I have been working 1:1 with a young boy in Y4 who has had a very traumatic childhood. I had seem some good handwriting in his book and pointed this out to him and told him that this was what we knew he could do and would expect from him all the time. yesterday I took him for an English session where we were writing sentences containing un and dis words. He wrote beautifully and was really proud wanting to show any adult who was around as we went back to class. Today was his LAC review, he joined in the end of the meeting and the Reviewing Officer asked how he felt about school, "I'm getting good at maths but my writing is well good!" was his beaming reply. All of the adults around the table couldn't help but smile at this happy confident little boy.
